Do you know how much you're worth? We do, and it's probably a lot more than you think. It's certainly more than ever before.
For our 2019 Inbound Marketing Job + Salary Guide, Conductor tracked key metrics for a range of inbound marketing roles in various cities across the country. Digital marketing is all about the data, and in this case, the data is clear — the demand for SEOs and content marketers is rising, and salaries are growing increasingly competitive. Our guide digs into these trends, and breaks down the skills you'll need to succeed in an ever-evolving field. It's a must-read for anyone looking to secure a job in digital marketing, or for those looking to level up their career.
Data compiled from four major job sites shows explosive growth in SEO and content marketing opportunities from 2018–2019. Over that period, the number of SEO job openings increased by 81%, while the number of content marketing openings multiplied even more dramatically, increasing by 112%.
This fierce competition for digital marketing talent is reflected in rising salaries. We tracked the average US salary for ten different SEO and content marketing roles from 2018–2019 and saw salary increases for all but three. When it's time for your next salary negotiation, you'll want to check out the more detailed data in our guide, which includes data on average salaries by role and city.
As companies invest more heavily in their digital marketing teams, they're also adjusting their expectations for prospective hires. Content skills have always been required for the majority of SEO roles, but for the first time, we're seeing that crossover happen on the content marketing side as well. In 2019, 56% of content jobs required SEO skills.
