**More than ever, Social media is where consumers are going to discover and explore a company's offerings. A study performed by Hubspot in 2023 showed that Gen Z, Millennials, and Gen X prefer finding products on social media over any other channel. Furthermore, Retail TouchPoints found that 76% of US consumers purchased a product they saw in a brand's social media post. Beyond increasing brand awareness, social media is where businesses can engage and nurture their relationships with their customers. The value of this interaction is not lost on Google: as of October 2023, Google provides businesses an option to add social media links to their Google Business Profiles.
What Changed
Businesses can now add social media links to their Google Listings, and these links will show up in both Google Search and Maps. At the moment, Google supports social media links from the following platforms:
- TikTok
- X (formerly known as Twitter)
- YouTube To add social media links to your Google Business Profile:
- Log into Google Business Profile
- Select your business
- Click 'Edit profile'
- Click into the 'Contact' section
- Scroll down to the 'Social profiles' section. Note: at the moment, businesses are able to add only one link per social media site. See here for more information on the specific format that Google requires for these links.
