Apps with Configuration

Using configuration resources, you can build apps that act on an account's configuration and maintain an API integration in one install. Resources represent configuration in JSON and can be acted on to view and modify content, settings, and Search and Pages experiences. With resources, you can configure Entity Types, Entities, Field Types, Search Configuration, Pages, and more. For a full list of resources see our developer documentation here.

Apps with Configuration provide the tools to create an app that adds a new entity type to an account and then syncs data to that entity type from another source. For example, if your menu data is stored in another system, you could create a connector that pulls menu data into Yext and then uses the content to keep entity types like menu items, happy hour deals, and offers up to date. You can also enable admins, customers, or sub-accounts to apply an out-of-the-box configuration for Search and Pages experiences, or create a new Data Connector and publish it to the App Directory!

It's easy to manage the development process when building apps with Yext. With support for connecting to Github, you can use a Github repository to see the differences between a past and current configuration version before applying changes. Once your app is live in the App Directory, alerting users to an update is seamless. You can ship the new version with the click of a button and we'll automatically notify all customers who have installed the app that there is an available update.
